which tires?
I have a set of winter tires for my car but they are kind of worn down now and are around 4/32. My all season tires are almost brand new and are marked m&s so i'm thinking about just using them for the winter..
We sometimes get a lot of snow here so i'm thinking i'm better off running the all season tires that have great tread than winter tires that are almost bald? |
Get new winter tires, your 3 seasons are nothing but a compromise.

M&S rating comes only because it's 50% rubber vs void space, nothing about winter or mud traction. Learned that just a few weeks ago and happy to pass it along.
Also recently watched a tire test video where they did wet braking test, 4/32 is unacceptable for anyone in my family but me. It was done by tirerack.com Get some new winters, burn up your old winters come spring (if willing and able to keep good braking distance) or toss them now. I'd burn them up on the rear 2 at a time realizing when wet than I need extra distance to be safe. |

I wish i had the money to buy new tires...i know its not a good idea to mix winter and all season tires but i might just use the 2 good winter tires on the front and the good all season tires on the rear...
The picture below is showing the all season tire on the left and the worn winter tire on the right |
You don't have a set of tire chains, do you? I still have mine from being assigned to northern Utah. Carried them around all winter up there, just in case. My truck did okay with all seasons, but I also put 300# sand in the bed.

Maybe its just the picture, but it looks like there's enough tread on those snow tires for another season.

Those winters, as worn down as they are, will do a much much better job on ice then your all seasons.

i measured the center and it's about 4mm. about 1/4 from the middle (or from the side's) i'm showing about 5.5 mm so they should be good...and those are the rear's, the fronts are at 5.5mm in the center and 7 to the sides.
Thanks for the tips |
