I have a few projects that I have going currently that I think can stand to make some gains from the information provided on this site. I was wanting to get some help with a few things. Anybody know if the VW Bluemotion TDI engines can be imported to the US? Or does anyone know of a TDI engine that can easily be used on a rear wheel drive vehicle? Any help would be appreciated. I also look forward to any information that may help that is specific to tuning a diesel engine for better fuel economy.

I think that any TDI front wheel drive engine can be modified to rear wheel drive, if you want a rear engine car...
The tuning of the diesel engine that brands are using is high turbo boost, i think that bmw reach the 380 hp with a 3.0L with something like 40 mpg using like 40 psi or more, also with high pressure injection.

A lot of people swap older vw tdi's into Toyota trucks. I dont have any links offhand but if you Google search it you should find plenty of info on making one rwd I'm not sure about stuffing it into a car, unless the car is mid sized or bigger, though.

i think that it depends on what you are going to do, maybe with more details we could give you better choices and info.

Well I am currently looking at doing an engine swap in two cars. Bathe rear wheel drive is a Opel GT so not a lot of room. Engine wouldn't have to be a TDI. Just can't seem to find any rear wheel engines w/ good FE like I want.

The per project is a huge day dream so idk if it will ever happen. I want to see if I can get my hands on a Bluemotion TDI 1.6l and drop it in an American VW.
