Pool noodle mustache...

I once use a pool noodle on the leading edge of my hovercraft skirt. An idea which did not work out, so I removed it.

Gitting ready to try this again since I'm headed to Florida (about a 1000 mile drive) and will ziptie the new noodle on once I git it reinforced with some PVC pipe...

The noodle mustache lives...


I've got it secured with 3 long deck screws going through the foam, into the PVC pipe, and then into the metal support of the air dam belly pan.

If you see me on the road...this is what the front end should look like...added some Tyvek tape fer reinforcement just in case.


Finally fixed the damage from this spring with a metal bracket and bolted it up to the extender. Should hold up better than the zipties I had on there.

Blocked the remaining opening in the grill with some pipe insulation, Tyvek tape, and some aluminum tape just fer looks. It can be easily pulled off if needed to bring it back to a 67% block.

This will be my final entry about my pool noodle mustache...

It held up well during the trip out to Florida without any incidents. Mileage didn't show any appreciable increases that may have been offset by the winter gas blend or the single run to Florida.

I was all set to drive back with it but it snagged on a curb as I was backing up and it pulled from the mounting points. It was easier to just pull it than to try to repair it fer the road. It was a fun test to see how viable it was to use a simple product fer aerodynamic testing. I would say the most difficult part was to keep it attached to my lowered air dam and air dam belly pan if it were to be struck by road hazards. Time to move on to other projects and see how viable it will be to adapt a more active lowering air dam...
