[VIDEO] For a moment I had forgotten how good SUVs were for the environment
|
1 MPG! They are saving the world!

Those commercials bug the living daylights out of me.
"From Gas Guzzling to Gas Free*" *Includes limited-availability wannabe greenwashed vehicles. Not available in some States. Void where prohibited by law. See dealer for details. Chevy -- an American de-Evolution! |
I love all the energy commercials.
GE Clean Coal, that's something we can all get behind! Evaporating black rocks that give tons of miners respiratory problems into our atmosphere...destroy mountain tops...emit loads of CO2...I can get behind that! That dancing lump of coal won me over. Chevron, oil may not be answer to the future, but it is the answer now. [insert picture of stereotypical mother nurturing daughter + reassuring soundtrack playing in background...beautiful streams and mountain peaks collaged with oil jacks and the noble well driller] How did I ever question your righteous ways? West Virginia Coal Advertisement or Moutaintop Clearing Flyover Who to believe? Who to Believe? I think TV in general aims at the lowest common denominator. I suppose it is a good thing because programming encourages me not to watch TV., but when I do, I get a little depressed...:( - LostCause |
Coal
Celebrate good times, come on! Celebrate...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQSqviu9_7k Horse Puckey. The latest news in my Region is the proposal for a new Coal-fired plant using old-tech methods. Luckily we have a pro-Environmental Governor (Kathleen Sebelius) on the Kansas-side to veto such nonsense. The Story. I'm just across the border in Missouri, so I have little say in the matter, but know I folks who do. It's up to them to voice their concerns. Most of the pollution will filter eastward into the Show-Me State anyways, so that concerns me. There's a tremendous amount of consistent wind potential that could feed the grid. Other options are on the table. RH77 |
SUV's maybe horrid for the environment, but it'd help if we cleaned them up a bit. 10mpg in an suv that gets 13mpg is a huge increase in fuel economy, and a huge decrease in fuel consumption.
SUV's still dominate the US sales, so if SUV's got 30mpg, it'd still be better than 10. a few mpg will go a long way if over 50 percent (I think that's what I read) of auto sales are SUV's. Hopefully though, we can get fuels to be renewable soon, so we don't have to worry as much. :( |
They have reason to celebrate.

I thought its a great ad. It's gentle. In a freer society people have the right to get really stupid and lazy. This always means that change takes more time. Nobody here remembers 1979? Same deal... gas prices are gonna go way up, everyone is gonna go small (retires care quicker this way so we make more), and then gas prices will hold or decrease so that car fashions can change. Anyway, it really looks like the oil and the auto industry know how to move well together. I guess the oil companies might need to start buying public utilities. |
My crx is in the middle of a 6 month driverless period, so I don't feel all that bad about it...I don't think I could move it from it's snow grave if I tried, it's almost completely covered, :). I'd trade it for a train anyday.

I just don't share in the attitude that we can have our cake and eat it too. Those that felt relief as they started smoking filtered cigarettes were kidding themselves. Those who feel a relief by driving a "green" car or hypermiling are kidding themselves. We will never live in complete harmony with the environment and it is a personal struggle to determine what relationship we want to have with nature. It just irks me to see people take satisfaction in polluting, but then again you can't let guilt get in the way of living a happy life. Why did society forget to teach me that black and white only exist as grey? - LostCause |
