VOTE! January Mod of the Month
Vote for modification of the month!
In no particular order, here are the links to the projects:
|
Man, this is difficult. It was so hard to pick just one.
(Complete opposite of political voting, where you hold your nose and just choose the least repulsive!) Mine doesn't deserve to be on the list. I only ever finished the driver's side skirt before winter hit! :D |
I didn't even vote for my clear Kammbach, lol.
Not a worthy thought compared to the benefit of dcb (and company) for their work with the MPGuino. |
Wow, that is a hard list to choose from. I went with the Aerocivic because of its iconic status here on ecomodder. The MPGuino, Jo's cruise control, and the Electro Metro are also worthy contenders. Good job to all the nominees!
|
Very very difficult... :(
|
They're all deserving projects, but I voted for Basjoos' Aerocivic. As Tango Charlie said, it's iconic here.
|
Wow...this is like choosing which of your kids you like the most...impossible!
I decided to go with dcb's MPGuino because I think it has the widest reach and impact for everyday drivers. While drivers might be inclined to mimic the other nominees work I thought dcb's project had the potential to influence the mass market of drivers. That being said, some of the other nominees might attain higher % increases with their physical vehicle mods. In no way does this diminish the other modders work...all incredible projects and worthy recipients of the award! I think if you pared the list down by 1 each month all of them would win over the course of a year! |
Great work to all; I like this idea - I found a couple threads I had missed somehow, and really enjoyed seeing the mods, like TomO's clear Kamm - I'm on board for it.
Another vote for dcb's work for being awesome + the most influential; the open source nature of it is a gift of his time and skills to anyone, anywhere. |
wow, hard choice. Almost voted for the mpguino, but had to give it to basjoos.
The mpguino won't inherently save you fuel, although it offers a larger percentage improvement for an average driver, but you can't help but save fuel with the aerocivic. Both ideas are things that auto makers really need to be looking at. Good job to all! |

As this is the first vote I interpret it as a vote for the best project up to now. I hesitated between the MPGuino and the Aerocivic. The MPG sensible cruise control and the electric projects were very close to the short list as they represent the future. If instrumentation has a big importance in saving gas and I do love Open Source, aeromod has the property to be driver independent so I voted for Basjoos. Denis. |
Bump. Voting closes in a couple of days.
|
I voted for aerocivic. Several others were close, but it's inspired so many of us on many levels. Maximum impact, well beyond the vehicle itself.
|
The choice for me was definitely between the Aerocivic and MPGuino.
The Aerocivic is an icon of what is achievable with minimum resources and some elbow grease. The MPGuino is a tool to better educate the user on how to drive efficiently. I voted for better education. |
Tomorrow is the last day to vote, choose your favorite project!
|
Last day to vote, put in your two cents!
|
Cool, two people voted for my ClearKamm, lol. I feel vindicated for some reason.
|
I guess I should just chuck my front wheel skirt in the garbage. Sigh.
$@*$^ popularity contests! :D |
Don't feel bad, it's not really a popularity contest....I didn't even vote for my own entry, lol.
Maybe we should have delved out the nominees over a couple of months. I have this feeling that we have played all of our best cards in one hand with them all being on the block for one month. Perhaps we can regurgitate the non winners in next month's vote and so on and so forth until we can get some new blood in the competition. this will be very likely as spring/summer is fast approaching and more people up in the North here will be working on Projects and get some fresh things up for the chopping block. |

Yep, I definitely agree with that approach too... maybe have one monthly "all-time" project vote (past winners aren't included), and one monthly "new last month" project vote... though that may be too much work to keep track of (have to do nominations for both, then voting for both, then keep track of who won in the past... )
Anyway, the list above had some many great projects, it's kinda unfair to not give them another chance... |
I think the Electro-Metro deserves some love too :) There's gonna be even more hardcore conversions coming I'm sure projects like Bens fleet help lead the way (And of course the forkenswift).
Also A big fan of the aerocivic and all the aeronauts. |
Even though the voting is over, I vote for Paul & Sabrina's controlling mother-in-law, I mean motor. haha! Just kidding. Darin, please don't chuck your skirt in the garbage. Ben, you should win in the category of doing the most stuff in the shortest amount of time. I need to see the rest of Ecomodder. I have no idea what the heck a mpguino is. I'm guessing it has something to do with my uncle guido, and his mofia friends, but I can't be sure about that.
|
Really, I was just kidding about chucking the skirt. (OK, "having a tantrum" may be more accurate.)
As for worthy projects getting a second swing at the ball, one "loophole" is that as long as the project was active in some way in the last month, it still qualifies, even if (like Electro Metro) it started a long time ago. Think it's time to declare voting closed (whoops - Daox beat me to it) and MPGuino the winner. Originally we had talked about giving an MPGuino to the winning entry, but that seems kind of redundant, eh? :) |
