Waterproof Enclosure

Hi all

I am trying to figure out how to make a waterproof enclosure for my MPGuino.

I have a project box on its way, and will me making a cut for the screen and buttons.

The buttons are easy, drill holes for the buttons, then cover with electrical tape losely, so that the buttons can be pressed but no water can enter.

Not sure on the screen though, thinking of putting some sealant on the inside where it rests against the cover for the screen, any ideas?

A suggestion if looks are not a big concern: why not get a clear Tupperware container instead of a project box? Alternatively, just cut a hole in the project box and mount a small piece of plexiglass and use silicone caulk to seal it to the box. Depending on the thickness of your box and how much the buttons stick out you may want to use some double sided tape and some pieces of whatever to extend the buttons so they poke out of the tape, which would make them easy to press versus having them set back into the box.

Just buy a water proof container with a trans parent lid. Anything with a rating of IP65, IP66, or IP67 will be plenty good.

NEMX 4x Enclosures and Boxes - PN Series | Bud Industries

Of course you cutting holes in it will compromise things.

I would recommend installing water proof IP66 buttons (just google) and using IP66 rated wire glands to run wires in and out.

Thanks all.

will wait until my mpguino actually arrives (although I have built a case for one before).

I like both the ideas put forward, a waterproof case from the get go is the easist option by far I think.
