VW Jetta Hybrid sets a land speed record at Bonneville
Kinda hoping to see Jethro's FrankenJetta...
That is one fast little motor, less then a 1.5L
I bet the wheel caps accounted for around a 10 mph gain, My Beetle needs a set of those.. article quote: This earned the model a Southern California Timing Association (SCTA) H/PS land speed record for "production cars with engines of less than 1.5 liters that use forced induction. |
Just wondering what mods were done to the engine. I bet they are running 40 PSI of boost or more.
Wow, that is impressively fast. Slippery looking Jetta too.
I don't understand why they call that a production car. I can't just go out and buy that car.
". . . offering excellent fuel economy while retaining the fun-to-drive nature expected from a Volkswagen."
Yup, I always like to have my fun driving 187 mph. :D |
This article says their EPA combined is going to be about 45 mpg:
2013 Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid priced from $24,995* Just imagine if they'd used a diesel engine. That 2.0L TDI engine already had a highway rating of 42 mpg. |
