How are you protecting your rear?
Most of us are driving at slower speeds so in everyday life with the general public out there and all their madness, are you doing anything to visually protect the back of your car? On Long road trips, I try to take back highways which are much more scenic anyway then playing bumper tag with semis on the interstates if it all possible.

I had "PASS ME" and "70 MPG" on the old Civic Wagon. The Insight has a strobing 3rd brake light. I ordered a custom "67 HP" sticker, but haven't put it on yet. Of course there's an EcoModder sticker!

I don't do anything myself but years ago I saw a car with a sticker which said "I can't afford to go faster" or something to that effect. It also had a cartoon drawing of a cross between a vintage car and a clown car. Maybe people were amused enough not to get upset.

On my previous car I put a Green Leaf sticker on the front and rear windows:
The Green Leaf is usually put on vehicles that are driven by someone who only recently got their license, but we used it to make others think we are new drivers, hopefully keeping their distance and being patient with the slow speed.

I popped-out two plugs that the factory put in the rear bumper of my Mazda and inserted red LED lights in the holes. The lights are wired into my LED DRLs on the front. So, when I'm moving, I've got lights front and rear.
The reason I installed them is because the grey color of my car makes it hard to see under some conditions. I don't want to be run over. The 8W load per light is a small economy cost.

I would say a strong, inflatable boat tail kills 2 birds with 1 stone.
Preferably clear plastic so your lights etc are visible, but strong enough to absorb a large amount of rear impact force.

Crushable aluminum boat tail to absorb more energy.
