What do you think of my car blog? Drag racing the Tdi!
Hey folks,
been away for a long time- since moving Jobs in Feb, I've been doing considerably less mileage. Even though that is the case, I've still been getting my automotive thrills and spills. Earlier in the year I though it'd be worth writing about my experiences, hopefully to provide some entertainment for folks with similar interests. Main site is here: fu'guttycars | More Petrol, Less Polish! This review of the Hyundai i10 may be of interest: Real Road Test- Hyundai i10 | fu'guttycars :D Hopefully I'll be doing some ecomodding/hypermiling type shenanigans that i'll blog about:turtle: P.s. it does contain the odd reference to the 14mpg (uk) bmw735i I have:eek: Would be good to hear your thoughts and opinions:) thanks |
Got to play with a Suzuki Jimny at the weeekend..
Its a 1300cc petrol small off roader with big ideas! Jim Jimny, Jim Jimny, Jim Jim Jaree | fu'guttycars |

Rate guid that car. :p
High load capacity needs a disclaimer: you'll need a full rack to load anything of import onto it. Nice you got a pre-electronic transfer case one. Still aiming to get one of those, one of these days. |

To be honest with me and the brother in it, it saw plenty load luggery.. Yeah there is something satisfying snicking a secondary lever into place. |
I Took ecomodder to heart again, swapped out the 735i for a 316i..

|
The 316i was an enjoyable read. Minds me of a trip a fellow forumer from Norway did... all the way to the top of Europe in an old Corolla (the last of the rear-drive ones). It broke down halfway there, so they found another one for sale, bought it on the spot, and continued the trip the next day.
- XJ40 would be the first with the V8? Nice motor those. Not terribly economical, though... :p |

The xj40 was only ever available with the straight 6 pr the v12-the v8 (and its myriad issues with timing chains) first came in the x308 in the late 90s. Its a lovely big thing and was averaging 26 uk mpg (21.6us) on the drive home. I think thats fairly good for a 4.0 auto 1800kg (3970lb) car.. |
The Good Lady's Clio 172 has been repaired and is back in service:)
https://fuguttycars.wordpress.com/20...babette-lives/ |
Got a bit of time to play on the xj40 today- and got the brakes sorted- so its edging closer to being used:)
full details in the blog below! (xj40.com gets a sneaky mention!) :D https://fuguttycars....ng-the-big-cat/ |
Got a chance to play with my Brother's Daimler- gave it a bloody good clean!
https://fuguttycars.wordpress.com/20...hem-good-pt-2/ |
Passed 4000 views on the old blog today:)
Last two days have seen over 400 a day! almost as if folks think its ok.. didnt think I'd ever get that far when I started oot |
Did you happen to put the words "Viagra" and "WOW Gold" in the last entry? :D
Congrats, keep it up! |

Fleet reduction, and Jaag cleaning today- most fun!:D

cannae believe it, had the old 320 for 10 years now!
got up to some fun things with her, not least last summer's trip to Prague! I've popped a wee blog together celebrating the fact we've had some good times.. https://fuguttycars.wordpress.com/20...pine-white-ii/ She's helped me meet some great folks, and have a ridiculous amount of fun- long may it continue |
A Mad March update on the current fleet status..
Suffice to say only 33% of the fleet are fully operational. You gotta love old cars- especially when you have far too many of them:) https://fuguttycars.wordpress.com/20...with-old-cars/ |
Fighting the French- Bloody Clio service and brakes!
https://fuguttycars.wordpress.com/20...ing-the-french |
I filmed a Leaf broken down (or run out of charge) on the bypass last week.
As nothing (else) of interest happened in the video I deleted it. Damn. |
|
That windscreen rust looks nasty
https://fuguttycars.files.wordpress....pg?w=430&h=242 and might be terminal before long ? Possibly better to buy something else. |

Got the chance to play with a new Jaguar XF diesel (with start/stop)
Good fun but strange.. https://fuguttycars.wordpress.com/20...r-the-weekend/ |
Mrs A had the idea I should have got an XF estate. RWD - I would stack it as soon as the snow came...

If it switches fully off it'd be fun in the snow:) |
Maybe not at the bottom of a hill.
