Hey folks,

been away for a long time- since moving Jobs in Feb, I've been doing considerably less mileage.

Even though that is the case, I've still been getting my automotive thrills and spills.

Earlier in the year I though it'd be worth writing about my experiences, hopefully to provide some entertainment for folks with similar interests.

The 316i was an enjoyable read. Minds me of a trip a fellow forumer from Norway did... all the way to the top of Europe in an old Corolla (the last of the rear-drive ones). It broke down halfway there, so they found another one for sale, bought it on the spot, and continued the trip the next day.

XJ40 would be the first with the V8? Nice motor those. Not terribly economical, though... :p

The xj40 was only ever available with the straight 6 pr the v12-the v8 (and its myriad issues with timing chains) first came in the x308 in the late 90s.

Its a lovely big thing and was averaging
26 uk mpg (21.6us) on the drive home. I think thats fairly good for a 4.0 auto 1800kg
(3970lb) car..

Mrs A had the idea I should have got an XF estate. RWD - I would stack it as soon as the snow came...

To be honest the tc/stability control was excellent-allowing just a little rotation before assisting.

If it switches fully off it'd be fun in the snow:)

Maybe not at the bottom of a hill.

Prides are a lovely base for Mazda frankensteins... lots of old ones running around with 1.8 turbos here.

There's this guy, KIADOHC (now goes by the name KDWZspeed, or something)... he's done some crazy swaps, mostly B6Ts, but his last one (on record) is a Lantis V6 stuffed under that tiny bonnet (which, to be honest, isn't that hard... it's a small V6. :p )
