What is the worst mpg you've ever had?
What is the worst mpg that you have ever had? I would have to say mine was 7mpg pulling a 30 foot tandom axle with my ram. My best was 41 mpg on my saturn. How about you guys??

I think 27 or something in the winter when my car was an automatic. Best tank is around a 55 I think.
|
20mpg in the wifes car, a 99 cavalier slushbox towing a 4'x4'x8' Uhaul with my bike on the trunklid-mounted bikerack.
Just your basic aerodynamic nightmare. Oh, and we were generally doing 70mph or better. Driving over 2000 miles in less than 3 days can really make you quit caring about FE for the time being. |
Haha, driving 2,000 miles in three days makes a man stop caring about a LOT of things!
You ever notice how even the most comfy seats turn to cement after about 1,000 miles? Back in May, I had to get rid of my poor old Monte Carlo (which was my first car EVER... had the old gal for 5 years!). I had found a Jeep on Autotrader, but it was 800 miles away, out in northern Wisconsin. The Monte (Dorina) had begun having several problems, including losing my headlights right after we got on the free way... I had to stop and wait for it to get brighter out! Anyway, we did the round trip in 17.5 hours straight- I drove the WHOLE way. It was just barely over 400 miles one way. Quite a trip! Anyway, the worse gas mileage I ever got was around 4 or 5mpg with our old GMC. It's certainly not a city vehicle, and that's why. It has a ton of miles, and when we first bought it, the tranny slipped really bad, and you had to give it heck to just get from one light to the other. I think it was the planetary gears. I've since changed the tranny, and it does a little better now. |
The worst I can remember calculating was around 15 mpg with my 2000 f250 powerstroke diesel 6spd 4x4. It wasn't broken in yet. My 89 dakota 4x4 wasn't much better with it's 3.9L auto with 250k miles. I think mid 40s mpg is the lowest I've seen in the metro and that was just after getting it running and before learning ecomod techniques.

The worst milleage I ever did was 7 miles to the gallon in a Reo Wolverine. The suspension and seats were absolutely incredible though. The shocks were called Lovejoys. Now this is pretty good FE if you compare it to the Duesenberg (5 miles to the gallon) and incredible when you consider the Queen Mary (now retired in Long Beach) at 7 FEET to the gallon of bunker. Now the poor dear just pollutes doing nothing.

I got around 5-7 MPG in the winter with my 1980 Chrysler Cordoba with a 318ci V8 back when I was in the 12th grade.
Attachment 143 I would start up the car in the morning, let it idle for about 20 minutes and then drive 4.6 kilometres to high-school :o. When I first bought it (in summer 2002), I filled the tank with $5 after 50 kilometres. I remember the gas mileage of that tank being just above 20 mpg(IMP) for all city driving; about 16.5 mpg(US). |
I had a '79 Chevy K10 AWD pickup. At exactly 50 MPH, I could get exactly 20 MPG Imperial... which was only 16.7 US. Normal driving was around 16Imp/13US and major offroad was 12/10.
Great truck, terrible mileage... especially after having traded in a Fiesta on it. |
Mine probably would have to be somewhere between 17-18mpg at some point during the winter. My mom drove some though.
Yea. Any comfy seat or suspension turns to rock after about 500-700 miles depending on how fast you drive. then It gets worse and worse the more you drive. and even if you take a 30 min break. you still get in and it feels like you're sitting on solid brick. Even in a Cadillac with their famous ride quality. Always bring a pillow that is made from memory foam! extends the buttocks another 2 hours! |
Man I've owned a lot of cars
Good Morning, allow me to enter the fray,
In 1987 My uncle died, He was a car "collector". My Aunt let my cousins get first pick of the cars for their own use, then she called me and asked if I would like any of them. #e!! yeah says I. I don't remember all of the cars that were left, but heres what I took away from the lot: 1974 Dodge Dart W/ 225 slant 6. Gave it to my father-in-law. 1969 Dodge D-100 van. Didn't run, couldn't figure it out, gave it to a neighbor. He couldn't figure it out either, ended up in a junk yard. 1972 Plymouth Fury Police Interceptor W/ 440 wedge W/ Dual Carter Thermo-Quad Carbs, from the factory. WOOOHOOO  Man that Fury would FLY But it only got 5.5 miles to the gallon. But gas was only $.699 a gallon. So I didn't care. Cost me $5. a week to go to and from work, Big Deal. Many years later, dum dum dum, My Grandmother gave me her 1979 Lincoln Town Car All Leather BIG Air Conditioner BIGGER gas tank I think, never actually checked, it got ~11 mpg. When people would ask, and they would, what was my mileage, I would tell 'em "12 mpg that's 7 ona highway + 5 ina city". lol ROFL, Nobody drives a land yacht for mileage. I sold it cause i couldn't afford to fill it anymore. I actually had one prospective buyer ask me what the EPA mileage on it was. My reply " If your lookin' fer mileage you ain't lookin' fer no Lincoln!" Well I've wasted plenty of time here, lets go lurk somewhere else now lurk lurk lurk |
