Which Wheels Weigh Less?

I drive a 97 Civic DX(white). The wheels on it now look like this:

I'm thinking about buying the wheels and tires off of this 93 Civic DX:

He's asking $100 but I could probably talk him down to 75 or so. Does anyone know if the wheels on the 93 are lighter than my current shoes? At a minimum I'd have an extra set of tires with 70% tread left for around 100 bucks. Any opinions? TIA

There both steel so the weigh about the same. Try and find some 87 CRX Si wheels, you should be able to pick them up cheap from a wrecker or online.

here is a pic

Yes, both the wheels you own and the wheels you are considering are steel and likely weigh roughly if not exactly the same... pull off your hubcaps and the wheels will all probably look identical.

Thanks for the tips. Say I couldn't find the wheels for an 87 CRX Si. Are there other wheels that might be in the middle of the road weight wise? Or are the only lighter ones the ones from the CRX Si?

Check this out.. WHEELWEIGHTS.NET Sort by "Alpha" it is the easiest way.

I forgot I have a set of 98 Acura integra ls wheels left at my mothers house if they are the 15s like my ep3 and they fit. They could save me 7lbs per tire. May not sound like a lot but that will help with the unspun or spinning weight what ever it is called. Intreasting....

Generally alloy wheels will be heavier than your stock steel wheels so be careful or you may end up hurting your fuel economy.

that web site doesn' list any 13" honda rims other then those for the civic vx (9.7lbs) when the steel 13" x 4.5" rims on my crx hf are around 12.5 lbs.
I would say that $75 for a set of rims tha have good tires on them is an ok deal if you can use the tires too.

I don't think it's worth buying those steelies, I don't think they will be any better than your current rims. My CX came equipped with those steelies stock and they were pretty damn heavy, so they definitely wouldn't top my list of light weight rims to get for cheap.

look for some wheels off 1980's Mercedes Benz diesels. Some that came with wheel covers have light weight aluminum "steel wheel look" wheels. they weigh significantly less, but they are 5x112mm
