The end number is $79 per month, not including taxes, insurance, electricity and whatever maintenance that's expected of the lessee. $79 per month is still pretty cheap.

After two years they want $22,226 for the car, which is where things get expensive. Car loans are now going for 8%, which means a 5-year loan would be a monthly payment of $450 per month, not including any taxes or fees.

And this is for a car that wouldn't be good for driving out of town.

It's still tempting.

That is $20 cheaper than my 2016 Chevy Spark EV 39 month lease and that car only had an range of 82 miles EPA.

After 2 years you hand the car back to Nissan and see what else is available.

I'm paying ~$20/mo. for insurance on the Superbeetle while it is in storage.

With that and the Metro averaging 116.5 miles/mo. I'm paying 50¢/mile. $4 gas at 40MPG is 10¢/mile.

The last payment the postal money order was 2¢ short and it incurred a $15.00 late fee.

It is very tempting. If I didn't just acquire two free running cars in decent shape I'd probably go get one of these Leafs. I guess I need to put my numbers and priorities together and figure out if I should get one or not.

I pay $15 less on my insurance for putting a second car on there. So far, this has been the Prius. As soon as I get one or both of the other two cars insured and plated I'll drop the Prius and sell it/give it away. The reason is the multi-car discount is greater than the amount it costs to insure a second car. At least if that second car only carries liability. I have no idea what it would cost me to have full coverage on two cars, the Avalon and a Leaf. The previous Leaf cost me $180 per month to insure.
