wind powered alternator

I was reading a recent thread that said you would save 3/4 - 1 hp by disconnecting the alternator. So, I was trying to think of another way to drive the alternator. At 60mph this puppy ought to do the trick

That is a clever setup, but why not just use the propeller to drive the wheels?

an even better idea:

Regardless if you are using the engine or propellers to turn the alternator, you will still have to use extra power to do it.

In case some you don't understand that people are mocking this idea, it is because with an alternator driven by a belt the belt is the loss, with an alternator turned by the air the air is being used as a working fluid to turn the alternator and fluid drives are not very efficient, at best on average you can get around 50% of the energy out of the air as anything more and it tends to go around the blades.

I still think it could work great if you used a matter warping contrabulator to warp a dip in the road in front of you so that you are constantly going downhill.

That might just work! Of course there is the always dependable, tried-and-true energy save of putting a jacked up rear suspension on to get the car going downhill all the time...

in addition to jacking it up, remove the alt and just drive really fast before your batt dies.
