Flywheel hybrid bicycle

Anyone see the bicycle using a flywheel from a car to store energy to help accelerate later? There is a YouTube video of the engineering student showing how it works too. I'm trying to figure out how the flywheel transfers the power back to the hub.

It uses the NuVinci continuously variable transmission to connect the flywheel to the road wheel. The gearing is continually altered to cause either the flywheel or road wheel to be accelerated (and the other decelerated) depending on which it is that is required.
