Worlds Fastest Lawn Mower. We can beat this!!!

Who wants to start a team to set the record for electric lawn mowers. We can take this record from the gassers! Some good aero and we could run 120 mph in an electrak.

Yeah I saw this on youtube ^.^ Yeah I think you could beat that BUT there are rules like you cant have a engine over a certain Hp and the Hp have to come from other mods

BTW orange4boy (I just noticed this) Congrats on the 62% over EPA, that's huge! I wish I could get 62% over....

I think we would be better off with fastest accelerating lawnmower.

The might have to create a new class for the electric lawnmower. The trick would be finding a sponsor. I'm obsessing on aero right now so I'm thinking fully faired electrak with boattail.

I'd bet that could have gone 100 with better aero.

Random: Looks like a dirigible now. I likey. If I had tons of cash I would probably do something all bodymatched and electric.

I guess you have not seen this yet:

I didn't watch the video, but i've seen the guy before. He could have adjusted the seat and easily made 100, or put a windscreen on.

I'm only working on building one that can pull a 10,000 pound trailer... no achievement there. :P

I'm not good at promises, and I read your post.

Got any more information?

It's a pet project, nothing serious. Google "Garden pulling tractors", you'll see.

I'm considering using the 40 HP Mercedes engine I have with a turbo, twin stick xfer case, and "as yet undetermined" rear axle, probably something from New Process or Dana.

1. Shorten up the rear end to fit width constraints
2. Mount engine, transfer case, and PTO shaft from front drive of xfer to axle.
3. Straighten and true assembly, build tube chassis to support it all.
4. Put some OEM appearing sheet metal from a mid-size garden tractor over the chassis, or some custom variant of sheet metal. (Was thinking about a Rat-Rod style front end with custom sheet metal.)
5. Create a solid front axle tube with steering ability, build the rest of the tractor, etc.

It's a rough plan, but I've got most of the pieces. I may sub the twin stick for a NP205 or 203 though, just to get everything put together. Twin Sticks are fairly expensive for something such as this. No suspension, mud lug tires, basic Saginaw-type steering box linked to a tie rod with a very rudimentary steering system in the front.

It's a several year project in the making, basically. Back burner to my house and several other things, right now.

You guys make the fastest one, I'll just tow it home for you. :P
