I made this out of card board and a black trash bag and used electrical tape to keep it in place

i mainly made this for winter use too help winter mpgs and i also how a oil heater but i want to see if my truck will get hot with day to day use

I think for the winter you can cover the whole area. Or if you want to be on the safe side you should cover those vents on the sides and leave the central one opened. IMHO

Ditto, you can probably close it up a lot more and be just fine, especially if you have any other grill openings below those three.

Well ill do some testing when winter really hits and see how muchj I can really cover up. And yes I have too more openings in the bumber as well

My truck has all openings fully covered, except for the one under and behind the bottom of the license plate. You can't see that one, but it's the width of the license plate and maybe a little over an inch wide.

My truck cools just fine. Last summer the engine temperature rose about 7 degrees on an extended upgrade at 93 degrees outside temperature. The cooling fan clutch did not engage.

how much mpg did your grill block add?

If you are affraid of overheating the engine I'll tell you that. I've blocked whole lower grill in my Previa, then with a piece of cardboard I've blocked the upper one. And I've made 3500km during late spring on the south of Europe and no signs of overheating despite deleted mechanical fan. Temp was stable, needle was stable in the middle of the scale.
