It's a cut and paste from a Honda brochure I got in Japan.
My 2-wheel trailer behind the CRX was good for 50-mpg,so they don't rob that much economy.

A single wheel trailer would work well in this instance. Based on my experience with my single wheel trailer project, the maximum length from the centerline of the rear wheel to the rear of the trailer is about 12 feet. It's important to have the two attachment points fer the trailer on the car as wide as possible to minimize induced yaw and roll. With proper bracing, you can bring the attachment points fer the trailer out from the car to about two feet so you will enough clearance fer the front of the trailer from the rear of the car as it pitches up and down. Upper and lower gap covers can be attached to the car and be very simple to allow fer the trailer pitching up and down. Since yaw and roll is almost completely eliminated, side gap covers can be close contoured to the car and be fixed in place with minimal need fer movement.

How would the rear wheel turn? I would feel the crazy front wheel of a shopping cart king of action, although the idea is definitely intriguing....... same idea with two wheels would work as well? Sharp turn would be a concern...... Pic is what I had in min as far as proximity. When it comes to my MPG, Im much more concerned about it without the trailer, Im more interested In the diffuser and making it functional.

Have a look...
http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...ler-26997.html

The rear wheel swivels.
Of the current manufacturers of the swivel/single wheel trailers, none of them demonstrates the wobble or fluttering action while being towed at any speed that I'm aware of.

In what sense do you mean by two wheels? Like the nose wheel of an airplane where the wheels are side by side? Toy-tote has that type of setup.
XL and XXL - Toy Tote

...or do you mean similar to a standard trailer single axle setup? Cruiserlift has that type of setup on their DW-58. Again, the wheels swivel independently. The optional hitch fer this will allow the wheels to stay on the ground as it has a swivel joint to provide fer this capability.

Someone made their own...
Swivel Wheel Trailer - Ford Powerstroke Diesel Forum

I don't have any issues with sharp turns. One just has to remember to turn tight into the corner with this type of setup.

With my trailer setup, I actually git better gas mileage towing than without the trailer.
