Direct Heating Defroster

This is what I have been hoping for - a direct heating windshield defroster that works quickly and uses very little energy.

New silver-based window defroster coming from VW

It also blocks infrared heat, so the car will be cooler in the summer, as well.

Sincerely, Neil

Wish my volt had it, thought about putting an IR heat lamp tube at the base of the window but this would’ve better.

It's not new.
Fighter air craft have been using something like this for at least 35 to 40 years.
1984 chevy suburban, custom made 6.5L diesel turbocharged with a Garrett T76 and Holset HE351VE, 22:1 compression 13psi of intercooled boost.
1989 firebird mostly stock. Aside from the 6-speed manual trans, corvette gen 5 front brakes, 1LE drive shaft, 4th Gen disc brake fbody rear end.

Civilian aircraft have been using it for quite a long time too.
