Do NOT make assumptions about changes.

Little story from today to illistrate my point.

I got home early today and loaded up my bike on my hitch rack. When I got up to speed I noticed my ScanGauge reading about 10 MPG lower than I would have expected it to. For 20 miles I'm driving just thinking about what strange aerodynamic phenomenon I've caused to loose 20% of my fuel economy. On arrival I notice that my right rear tire is nearly flat DOH!

Moral; just because you make a change, does not mean that it is the only change made.

Fixed an AC system today. . .assumed it was the compressor. . .actually was the throttling valve and the compressor just ran at lower pressure for a ULEV vehicle.

so true. Especially unibody cars. Transverse/unibody by far is the most dramatic at any change at all.

I have been welding an old sube with 3 modes in the tranny in the summertime for 3 years now... an experience I won't be forgetting soon. Luck with some of the unibody designs is never an option. some welds take an entire season...mysterious....it even changes fuel in certain places welded.
It makes my second look a bit weird to speak about any car, new or old.
Unlike a guitar string, it may take a year to sound after the pluck...
