How can I find the author of an online image ?

Yes, this is off topic, and yes I looked elsewhere online for the answer, but did not find it.
A lot of you guys are damn smart when it comes to stuff like this, so I thought I would ask here as well.

So - if I find an image online that has no link to the author, or watermark etc. , how can i find the author of the image ?

Even when using things like TinEye, I don't come up with much, most of the time.

I find a lot of images online to use as reference for my art, but want to avoid copyright issues.
Even if was 100% legal to not not have to get permission, it's just polite to get permission.

Thanks !

Impatient much?

I saw the question yesterday, but didn't have any actionable intelligence. So today I went to Google and Wikipedia.

Uses

Reverse image search may be used to:[4][5]

Locate the source of an image
Find higher resolution versions
Discover webpages where the image appears
Track down the content creator
Get information about an image
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reverse_image_search#Uses

Google lists multiple reverse search engines and points to comparisons.

If you use free software like DAZ Studio and free assets from (for example) DMI Car 3D Models, distributing the renders you make is generally Okay, let alone art derived from them.

Google itself will let you do a reverse image search on an image url on the image search screen.

Hey guys, I have tried both. Thanks.

( Yes. I was impatient. I was thinking of doing some art that very day, but it didn't work out.
I wanted to use a certain photo, but with permission. )

I'm thinking I might have better luck using stock photography that you can purchase.
I'll have to look into it, because most likely, the author retains full rights to the image, meaning that I cannot create a derivative of the image ( modify it ).

You could just start posting the image everywhere and see whose lawyers contact you
