Identify this VW concept please

Please have a look at the silver car on this page scanned from an old copy of Evo magazine.
This car really interests me but I can't seem to find any other information about it. Not even a picture!
Can anyone identify it?

Based on pic and text, early prototype of a VW 2-Litre?

I'm guessing the mag is from the late 90's based on the styling. Can you give us a date on it? The car may be unrelated to the 2 Litre concept because it's got a totally different package (The 1L had tandem seating)

Hi, that edition of Evo was from 2009 or 2010. I just realised there was another page to it, but it was just photos to match the text on this one. Frustratingly for me, all there is is the photo and the short paragraph on each car.
I'll scan the complete page in if I get a chance. Frank, where are you getting the connection with the new Beetle from? (I think that front bit is just a number plate recess)

Remember me the Audi A2... may be the VW concept from Audi A2?

This car is very similar to the Citroen C2

or may be derived by extreme aerodynamic version VW E-UP

not relevant, but I found another interesting concept car, Volkswagen 2L

I'd say the car is from that era - but not necessarily the magazine

Let's ask Hucho

It seemed the car was pretty new when the magazine came out, also based on the typeface and graphic design. Anyway, I suggest the OP posts it in The Car Lounge at VWVortex. They'd be able to figure it out.
