I was thinking plastic would be easy to cut. In the event, I used a metal air horn I've had (and never used) for 20 years. The pieces are cut, when they are installed I'll post up the pics.

Biodiesel is easy peasy on the engine.

commercia diesel in the 70'/80s was absolute s**t compared to modern biodiesel. Lot of impurities.

Since it's an old IDI it can run even on vegetable oils quite easily. Volkswagen had even tested it with soybean oil in Brazil during the 80s.

I quoted the owner's manual and the attendant suggested 1%. I'm more concerned about things like the trip odometer being inoperative. It's nice to know I have a path to petroleum independence. Maybe I can fit a grease rendering plant in the back under the lift-back?

All I did today was wash it and drive it. I deleted the passenger-side wiper and replaced the blade on the driver side. Before it goes out of town, I need to do a wheel alignment and get a pair of tires.

That's exactly why I like old-school Diesels

I've already seen some early water-cooled Volkswagens, not just Passat/Dasher, converted to single-arm wipers. Weight savings are roughly negligible, but it still leads to a minor aerodynamic improvement, especially when set to stand up while not in use.

I am running b20 in my 6.5 GM Diesel. I had to replace the 1/8" return lines that run from injector to injector. The mechanical lift pump has held up so far.

Biodiesel is often used to enhance the lubrification on pumps and other injection components.

I'll burn through this and try something else. But at 10 gallons x 40mpg it may take a while.

I've cut the bellmouths, but I'm concerned with 'fettling'. The exhaust bellmouth has excessive taper and actually forms a anti-reversion valve. These may not be the parts I'm looking for.

Thanks for the suggestions, but that '81 has two too many doors.

Freebird, Shell sells B20 without Oregon road tax. It is not a Shell product so it may not be available at all stations. $2.299 mid valley.
