Rear lip: aerodynamics better or worse?

Hi

I am thinking of putting a original rear lip civic ek9 in my civic ek4.

This is good or bad for aerodynamic and highway fuel economy? or no difference?

With rear lip:

Without rear lip:

They added one to the Hybrid for Eco reasons. However the Hybrid did not come as a hatchback. So your car tail may not be long enough to make use of a small lip. But it is worth a try.

It probably couldn't hurt. May help marginally. Looks cool anyways

I was thinking of the lip on top of the trunk lid when I saw the title, but I thought this was about the bottom of the rear bumper.

I would leave it off myself

Wouldn't that lip have a parachute effect, especially with no belly pan?

The lip is OEM Honda, but was designed for the civic ek9 (type-r), which has the same chassis as mine.
The fit is perfect but i do not know the reasons why it was designed for the ek9(type-r)

I have read something of the "parachute effect" in the rear bumper, but I don't know if with the lip works better or worse.

it looks like the center section might not stick down much more than where the bumper is already. where its lower on the outer edges, it might have a little boat-tailing affect behind the tires, however it continues inboard too far for that purpose. where i think you would get some of the parachute affect.

for efficiency, id say no

if you think it looks awesome and makes you happy, do it. i doubt you would notice the loss in mileage if any

The lip will give the air a clean edge to depart from, less parasitic drag and clinging.
