Don't forget the appearance you project riding it... Macho? Sexy? Successful? No. Put knobby tires, an open piped ICE, and TruckNutz on it and you might have something...

I have been in college on and off for fifteen years. I imagine that students with skateboards predated me by many years. I guess that there are advantages and disadvantages of bikes, scooters, and skateboards, but somehow skateboards are "cool" and I see a line of them leaning against the wall inside every classroom. I favored "kick" scooters. I used to have old women complain to each other about my "skateboard." No, I have handlebars and brakes, and I took up less space than them and their wheeled backpacks.
I once found myself walking a mile to the bus and told my girlfriend that I wished that I had a Segway.
"Why, are your legs broken?"
"Would you ride a Segway with broken legs?"
"No, I am not lazy."
"So, you would walk with broken legs?"
That relationship did not work out...

It's a bit sad to see what are essentially green methods of transport, being turned into powered vehicles.

You know, one of those little RC rotary engines could be really good for retrofitting to a bike or scooter with some fuel injection (alpha-N for simplicity I guess), and probably smell a lot better than the 2 stroke scooters that some people ride around and get some respectable fuel economy.
