Seat Ibiza ST E-Ecomotive 1.2 TDI 2012

Hello

Got this car this week and the only thing this far that I've done is that I've raised the air pressure in the tires to 50 psi.

The claimed MPG is 68, and claimed CO2 is 89g/100 km so it should be quite efficient as standard.

Ecomotive package includes factory upper grille block, 15 mm lowered suspension and taller gearing. It should have skinnier tires, but those have been replaced by the previous owner to wider ones. The engine is a 1.2 liter 3 cylinder diesel.

I really don't like the rear shape of the car. But the rear spoiler shape is pressed steel in the boot door, so I don't know how to make it more aero.

The same rear door is used on the hatchback, so the spoiler angle is wrong for the station wagon.

A lower front grille block is the first thing to do.

Haven't filled it up yet. Can't wait to see the fuel economy. :-)

That's the car I would have bought instead of my Insight if I had fit in it better, and more specifically, my daughter behind me too - my chair took away her leg room...
Fifth gear is very long. You need to shift back for rapid acceleration.
You also need to rev a bit to get it going in first gear, even though it is a diesel; below turbo range there is no torque. But fuel consumption was impressive on my short test run.

I think the 'spoiler' lip actually helps.
It provides a sharp cutoff for the kammback and it raises pressure on the slightly rearwards facing end of the roof, reducing drag a bit.
Many cars end a downwards sloping plane with a flat 'spoiler', f.i. the 4th gen Prius does. It must be doing something.
I would leave it as it is.

Thanks for the input RedDevil. You are right about the low torque.

I will have this long cold winter time to think what I will do next summer. A small kammback would look good on the car. Easiest would be to leave it as it is.
