Toyota to build a modern day Metro?

Anyone heard of the Toyota iQ? Sounds very promising:

Toyota iQ Aims at Smart Fortwo- Yahoo! Autos Article Page

A four seater that is about the size of a Smart, with a 1 Litre 3 banger or a 1.4 Litre diesel

If they brought the diesel out, it might actually be the first time I consider buying a toyota. I wont get my hopes up, great ideas/projects seem to fall through all the time.

haha marketing... When you think about it, car makers touting Cd without mentioning total frontal area is almost a meaningless index for the consumer's purposes. What consumers really need is a new index that combines the two numbers that more directly relates to total drag at say, 65mph (or pick a speed). I don't ever recall seeing total frontal area stats for a given model unless I dig, deep.

Still, a good direction to be headed if you sell cars for a living. Large firm selling tested crashworthy car that get great FE... what a concept! But will the general population buy or rent them?

I'm sure you'd all rip apart the wheel wells and grill on that car for better Cd. CdA would be an excellent stat to list on cars. But i suppose in the real world, that is what EPA Highway rating is for.
