USA an energy exporter again?
This surprising story comes from the NYT:
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/11/13/bu...-years.html?hp
A similar story also ran on NPR, if you can't get access at the NYT through the above link.

Interesting article; thanks for sharing...
After reading the article linked above, I read some others. I hadn't read the NYT before, but perhaps I'm wiser for it. There seems to be a lot of political bias and name-calling in the op-eds, and very little scientific or economic fact.
I would think such a widely circulated paper would have the resources to pay rational contributors, but then I guess reason never did sell.

"Opinion Editorials" (OpEds) in any paper are biased. That's why it's called "opinion." But this piece is not an opinion piece. It is a news piece reporting on a formal report and seeking professional commentary in one of the best-resourced and responsible news gathering and reporting organizations in the world.

A big chunk of that export is going to be coal, not oil, even if we do export oil, as we do right now in the form of refined gasoline, and it will be more then Saudi Arabia because their production is dropping. refined gasoline is currently our single largest export! our gas prices are not going to go back down because everyone else is willing to pay more then we are willing to pay.

$2.97 today is not bad, even in my truck that's less than 10 cents a mile. In the bike it's close to 3 cents a mile. I know there are 168 coal cars going by my house every hour. I think it's 24-7. I guess one day we will sell them the whole state of West Virginia. With the grade the train may be coasting most of that 300 mile trip, going back empty.
regards
Mech

Energy exportation helped make the U.S. rich in the 1950s and 60s.
It made the saudis filthy rich over the last 30-40 years and it has improved canadas economy most recently.
