Yes its possible. If you have any interest you can contact me. My plans are to start selling these in finland with some kind of bodykit in place so why not ship them to states also. Gargo to states should be around 1000 usd. However there is lots of other stuff that needs to be cleared before you can ship a car to states if I have understood things correctly.

Gray market cars have been more or less illegal since 1984.

The car can be seized and crushed, you would need to send it over in parts and then getting it on the road would be amazingly expensive.

112 miles per gallon.

Are we talking imperial gallons, er? I'm having a hard time with this, respectfully.

With DRL led lights and full frontal grill block I was today able to reach 2.78 l/100km (84,54 MPG US) @ 95 km/h avg speed with my lupo 3L. For very short time it is possible to drive the car close to that 100 MPG us mark but I dont have the patience for it. It would require avg speed which is about 70...75 km/h.

dieselbeetle: 3L is for the 3 L/100km consumption = 78.4 mpg(US) = 94.16 mpg(Imp). Calculated with Fuel economy conversions / calculator - EcoModder.com

Vekke, is it at a steady speed or with Pulse & Glide ?
I'm doing P&G @ 70-85 km/h (43-53 mph) with my old 1.9L turbo diesel (without direct injection not high pressure) and I'm reaching 3.15 L/100 = 74.67 mpg(US), hoping to reach 3.0 L/100 with my current tank to beat that record.
@ a steady 90km/h I'm reaching 3.8 L/100 = 61.9 mpg(US).

Have fun,

Denis.

That is with full P&G driving from 95 to 110 km/h. @ 100 km/h avg speed P is about 7 seconds and glide 10 seconds. My old seat glided about 16 seconds in those speeds so there is lots improvement left to that. In long uphills I use glide with load to get the hill up with one glide.

Good luck and patience to your goal also. I plan to try drive 2000 km on one tank later this year with my Lupo 40 liter tank

My Cobalt which is neither a diesel, nor aero, nor as small has hit 80.7mpg P&G around town when its nice and HOT outside. (also I can't stop if I want above 65mpg and have to full coast most of the time)

I have maintained it for usually only about 20 miles at a time, then I go on the highway or the temp drops and back to 50's/60's (or 40's if its lots of highway which it usually is)

Today I was able to reach that 112 mpg us for 10 miles distance according to Lupos fuel gauge which should be accurate at the moment. Speed was 85 km/h 53 MPH behind a big truck. Its not easy at all to get that low. If you are not very careful with the throttle it will settle up to 2.4-2.5 l/100km levels. Anyway I think progress is clear when I compare results few weeks back. Changes to car are smooth undertray and new exhaust...
