I still think that hybrid veicules are a bit of a flop.
The small lupo 1.2tdi turbo diesel engine toghether with
- low drag body and tyres
- low wheight
- special gearbox (very long and with automatic desengadging system)
- start and stop system

can very very easely make >80mpg of diesel (even with trafic)

Well done on your purchase. Those should become quite the collectors item!
And if i can get 3.5L/100k without pulse and glide then you should come in under the 3 litre mark! I eagerly await your fuel logs!

I am quite happy on the car (just pitty not to have more time to drive it)
from factory it makes 2,7 l/100 (on road) 3,6 (in city) and combined is 2.99. I have for several times made 2,3l/100 on computer. My secretary that knows nothing abaut ecodriving and could only average 6,5l/100 in a 1100cc citroen saxo can easily make 3,5l/100 in the lupo...
The car weights 850Kg witch is impressive... The most interesting thing for me is the gearbox as it allows very low reeving and the perfect disengage and engage for pulse and glide (it does it automatically without having to touch the gear lever...) its amazing. I am just thinking about buying the audi A2 1.2tdi as it have the same technology but better equipped.

Congratulations for your purchase. How much did you pay and how much it has been already driven? What is the yearmodel?

I look also forward for your fillup figures .

I have plans to purchase similar car from germany as soon as I have the money for it...

Welcome to ecomodder.com .

Were you using US gallons ( 1 US gallon = 3.78541178 liter ) to calculate those 104 mpg ?

104 mpg (US) is well beyond awesome.
It's 2.26 liters/100 km .

It'd mean you beat all Lupo 3L owners on Spritmonitor.de !

Even using UK gallons, you'd still land right at the top of the spritmonitor list.
104 miles/gallon(UK) = 2.72 liters/100 km

It just slightly reduces the awesomeness

Have you thought about doing any aerodynamic modifications to it?

Sure, rub it in. Wish we could get them over here.....

Angmar, have you looked at the Lupo? It has less to improve than the first gen Insight !
That said th 'Zombie Insight' did improve.......
