Work on my lupo3l has started

Hi all

So the aeromodding begins on my lupo 3l and I will try to keep it up to date here as I install improvements and update my fuel log which will begin in January as I'm on leave * After getting my 3rd kid.

I run at 71 mpg (us) with almost no modification so it will be interesting to see what the different modification will do. I will try and drive at least 2 tanks between mods in order to see some comparison to the different modification and not cluster them up

I *fittet a new adjustable suspension and lowered the car as the old one needed change and a adjustable suspension is cheaper than a original E approved lupo3l suspension ( the 71 mpg was with new suspension )

I got my smooth hub caps on and a front grill block in place.
And I fittet my scangauge II at the dashboard.
This will be my first improvement that needs testing. I will add pictures as soon as I'm allowed

I ordered some cameras and some 4,3 inch screens that I will install in the side mirrors to delete them. Had a frind ship it from the states to Denmark where I live as the cameras on Amazon was 30$ in the us and the cheapest I could get them in Denmark was 82$

I have also ordered LED lightbulps for the entire car and HiD for the headlight. I'm working on getting original xenon headlights but that are really hard to get a hold of to the lupo.

I will soon order some coroplast from holland as I cannot get that stuff in Denmark and I will start to work on rear wheel well covers.

Hope to see some great results and hear from you all.

Nice! Don't forget an airdam (chin spoiler), as those are one of the most common, easy, and generally satisfactory mods people do here.

It's great to see another Dane on this site

I went to the car junkyard and got myself 2 side mirrors
Work has started on them and they did need a bit more work than I anticipated but is it not like that all the time I will try to post pictures as soon as I can

I was not familiar with this car so I looked it up.

Walbum, what is your typical daily trip like; time, speed and distance wise?

Hi Kach22i

The picture of the black one you got there is the lupo gti.. You can see that by the disc breaks it has on the back wheels. And the alloy wheel and the small cam back is also from a gti

And I think the picture of the blue one is a 1.4 gasoline version..
Look up lupo 3l

The type I have is a lupo3l the 3l stand for 3 liters 100 km that's 0,793 gallons for 62,13 us miles
It's listed as 77,62 mpg read about the 3l model in on the wiki page

From my introduction thread.

I daily commute 56 miles to work and home again. About half is 15% city and 35% country road and the other half is freeway. The first half have about 8 turns and 6 roundabouts ( we love roundabouts in Denmark ) I drive 49 mph on the country roads and speed down to 31 when I'm with in city limit. My driving stile is that I hit almost full throttle until I'm a few mph above posted speed and then I easy the throttle until I hit the desired speed and I settle the throttle there. I try to anticipate an approach to turns and roundabout ideling in neutral gear for about 1/4 mile before the turn if traffic allows it and when I get close I break with the engine and last hit the breaks if needed. I try to pass turns and roundabout with as high speed as possible within safety of myself and other traffic as I don't have to use all the energy getting to posted speed afterwards.
*
On the freeway my speed is 68 mph. Half of the freeway only has 2 lanes so I have to over take trucks that are only allowed to drive 56 mph in Denmark. Speed in the outer lane usually 80 mph so I usually have to get to that speed in order to blend into the traffic. Also about 6 miles of the freeway is under construction going from 3 to 4 lanes and that makes traffic jams morning and afternoon doing rubberband driving as we call it.

This takes me an hour 15 minutes to an hour 30 mins depending on traffic

I know the pictures a small but I can't do it any other way

As you can see on the pictures quite a lot had to be removed for the right shape

Next step will be to seal all the gaps and make a cardboard box around the wing and then make some hard foam that I can shape with a knife and sandpaper and I will then use fibreglass on that.

1. Please post some pictures of your car when you get the chance.

2. Thank you for reposting your intro-info.

3. I can see how improving aerodynamics will help your commute.

4. That side view mirror modification looks super cool so far.
