I wonder what a few aero mods would do for the top speed and 1/4 mile times?

Hi,

If you're running a Mac, use the Flash version of the video instead of the Windows Media player (unless you want to load Flip4Mac).

It is definitely the White Zombie car.

Just a quickie...

John Wayland will be joining me on EVcast on Wednesday 6th May. We'll be recording the show at 8pm BST - or 3pm EST. Check out EVcast: The Podcast on Electric Cars and Other Electric Vehicles for more details, or pop over to my website at www.aminorjourney.com

OK, so if the car is built for speed it must not get very good range. I was getting confused to where the 60 batteries were because it looks like he has a lot of space in the truck and engine bay, even before he put the lipos in.

EDIT: And I just did some interweb searching and it appears that the white zombie is only the second fastest street legal electric. Search smoke screen, it's an s-10 that ran a 11.083 @ 120mph. Very cool.

According to its ev album it can go 40 miles:
John Wayland's 1972 Datsun 1200 White Zombie

That is a pretty useful range, covers over 95% of my driving. Though I would be glad to trade 0 to 60 in 3 seconds for more range on the street But cars with better batteries get good range AND performance.

Here's the top 5 list:
World's top 5 fastest street legal electric cars

Legally speaking, Wayland can still claim to have the worlds fastest street-legal electric CAR, since the S-10 is a pickup. You all can chuckle, but it's done all the time...

In fact, Tesla is still claiming to be the only highway-capable PRODUCTION electric CAR for sale. There is a small group of 3-wheelers out there, but the Tango is a 4-wheeler, yet IIRC comes as a kit, so is not classified as a true production car... Also, I believe that several others are close to production, so we'll see if Tesla stays with their claim or not...
