The 4.54 factor is for converting liters to British/Imperial gallons.
I posted a handy chart a few days ago that will give you what you need and more. Once you have the fuel converted to US gallons and the distance converted to miles, you can use the forum's fuel log feature to help you keep track of your MPG. I use the fuel log and a simple Excel sheet too. The chart -- courtesy of the CDN gubbermint -- is here:

EDIT: Multiply the US MPG by 1.2 if you want the old familiar Imperial MPG numbers
