For the few remaining skeptics of the ScanGauge / MID...

For the few remaining skeptics who question the utility of FE instrumentation ...

Once prolific GS member 95Metro installed a MID in his 95 Metro 1.0 5-speed.

Within 1 week he busted through the 60 mpg segment barrier AND the 70 segment barrier, and is predicting 80 will fall in the very near future. Best segment to date: 77+

How?

I'd say: partly through the constant "encouragement" factor inherent in having instant feedback in front of him, and partly because he's seen the first-hand effects of coasting engine-off, so has been using it more. He has also used the MID's feedback to fine tune his acceleration technique.
