I don't know how I feel about Diesel hybrids replacing gassers....
I think if you have a diesel use it. Converting to diesel puts an increased load on the demand for diesel and dampens the load on the more common and cheaper(via mass production) gasoline. also with GDI, and lean burn for cars the FE difference is negligible.
Gas is also almost always in supply whereas I have seen stations run out of diesel more often than gas.
