Interesting to hear somebody talk about the simple fuel economy of a little hatchback vs the complicated fuel economy of a hybrid.

Hybrid cars are what inspired me to build my electric motorcycle. I wanted something that got great economy, but was also simple and inexpensive. the electric motorcycle fit the bill.

I can fix a basic car, but I would need to have anything on a hybrid done at the dealership

My daily driver is a beater I bought six years ago for $100. Since then, I have repainted it with Rustoleum, hit a dear, made my own plexiglass headlight, replaced the entire gas tank, fixed the door locks with shoelaces, and have no fear of fender-benders or that time raccoons were climbing inside it while camping.

I would not have all that with an expensive newer car, especially a hybrid.

I also think it's pretty cool that only on a car forum like this one, would you have people rooting for you to go carless! Certainly an interesting bunch of people here.
