No science-talk here,but even if the restriction in the intake did not INCREASE pumping-losses,would not any of this "beneficial turbulence" be nullified as soon as the air passed through the throttle-body or carburetor throttle-plate.And in a carbureted engine,which can have significant droplets of fuel present in the charge,would not the centrifugal force of a vortex not behave as a cyclone-precipitator,slinging the fuel to the walls of the intake runners,wetting out the walls? I'm given to understand that turbulence can be great for induction however,"vorticity" is a completely different animal.
