Also had Falken ZE-512s on my Legacy. They gripped well for 10k miles and then the grip went to hell. Don't know how that applies to the -912s or how you drive, as I routinely left-foot braked to hang the rear end out to counter understeer in corners and pulled J-turns in the work parking lot (at least for a little while), but the point about lack of grip when worn may apply. Other tires I've had usually retained a much greater percentage of their original traction when they were worn equally as far.
