what tires should i run?
my xB needs tires...it takes a non popular 185/60-15
i was looking new goodyear fuel max tires at 80bucks a pop
or i was looking at Falken ZE-912 tires at 58bucks a pop
would the fuel max tires be worth it?? i drive 80miles a day...yet i do like to take some corners...i dunno, grrr

As far as I'm concerned, better tires are never a waste of money. Having said that, what are the ratings on these two tires?

This is a fuel economy forum, use the fuelmax tires!
Plus, you have a different car for fun cornering.

I had Falken ZE-512 tires on my old Elantra. They had pretty good grip in the wet and snow. Plus I frequently got 38 MPG out of it--even though the EPA highway was only 30 MPG. I don't know how similar the ZE-912 is.

Also had Falken ZE-512s on my Legacy. They gripped well for 10k miles and then the grip went to hell. Don't know how that applies to the -912s or how you drive, as I routinely left-foot braked to hang the rear end out to counter understeer in corners and pulled J-turns in the work parking lot (at least for a little while), but the point about lack of grip when worn may apply. Other tires I've had usually retained a much greater percentage of their original traction when they were worn equally as far.

Other tires that I am considering:
for dollar value: Falken Sincera SN-828
only $60 including shipping for a silica compound tire
Michelin Hydroedge, straight from Michelin that it's their best LRR tire for small cars, Harmony is next
Nokian H, straight from Nokian that it's their best LRR tire for passenger cars

I just mounted the FuelMaxs on last night, yay, seem ok so far...i can still light 'em thru 3rd gear tho...right now they are at 35psi, after a few hundred miles i'll crank them up to 55psi
