The thread on oil prices rising again had me thinking, "What did I actually save by trying to hypermile?"
So I took my milage since I started the fuel log, average "lifetime" mileage, EPA milage, and the average price of regular gas in my area in the same time frame and ran the numbers. Total milage as of last fill:15,706 miles; average price for the same date range: $2.853/gal.
I also looked at a much worse milage. Good thing I don't drive an SUV
- | Current | EPA | Worse |
MPG | 38.08 | 29 | 18 |
Gallons | 412.447 | 541.586 | 872.555 |
Cost | $1,237.34 | $1,545.44 | $2,489.87 |
Savings | $368.50 | 0 | $-944.44 |
I think that paid for my MPGuino :-)
