Those things (on the Nissan) I believe are called Canards.
They basically create down force by creating downward force from oncoming air, and they also create vortices that prevent the higher-pressure air from the sides of the vehicle from entering the low pressure area of the underbody. Creating more downforce.
They are highly inefficient though, because they create gobs and gobs of drag, and are mainly used to fine-tune aerodynamic balance on racecars.
It's probably only there for the Auto Show, like many other vehicles that boast 20" rims and mock performance parts to make it look better. So they (hopefully) wont make it into standard production.
