Honda front spoilers

I was at the Cincinnati Auto Show and saw this Honda. It is an SI that had this unusual fin/spoiler on the front sides.

Has anyone seen anything like this before?

Pure styling fantasy made to mimic some race cars. Even the real deal is designed for down force not drag reduction. Most race cars have terrible CD but excellent down force.

Just a bling accessory, not much to be gleaned FEwise there.

Those things (on the Nissan) I believe are called Canards.

They basically create down force by creating downward force from oncoming air, and they also create vortices that prevent the higher-pressure air from the sides of the vehicle from entering the low pressure area of the underbody. Creating more downforce.

They are highly inefficient though, because they create gobs and gobs of drag, and are mainly used to fine-tune aerodynamic balance on racecars.

It's probably only there for the Auto Show, like many other vehicles that boast 20" rims and mock performance parts to make it look better. So they (hopefully) wont make it into standard production.

o good, It's the Mugen addition, basically the edition all the tuning racer guys get. I don't think it's on the standard civic, which I was talking about.

It's on there like the OZ ralliart Edition of the Evo, or the SHO version of the Taurus.

I used to be into the whole Sport Compact Car scene reading SCC for a time. I was into budget tuning and 4 bangers beating 8 banger's on the race track. Now I'm into the opposite .

Hopefully they won't be on the regular versions of the civic.
