I went with Valvoline 75W-80, or something like that. I would have liked to get something like Royal Purple, or the syncromesh, but I was on a pretty tight budget. I don't think mine necessarily needed a change, but I definitely noticed a difference shifting after putting the new fluid in.

Changing the fluid to anything should help if there's already a noise, do you know if it's leaking at all?
