the syncronizers are simply the mini almost gear with a built in clutch that help to match gear speeds when you shift gears, they are why you no longer need to dubble clutch (push clutch in, shift out of gear and in to neutral, let the clutch out, rev match, push clutch in, shif in to next gear), with a little practice you can drive a car just fine that has worn out syncronizers, and because they are not compleatly gone it will be easier then say, driving a Honda N600 that doesn't have them at all.
