At Phoenix Intl Raceway,at the Solar 500,two teams had "hybrid"-electrics created by use of "range-extender" trailers which contained generators which pushed power forward through an umbilical to the host vehicle.Alan Coconi (sp?) drove from Los Angeles powering his electric CRX.Volvo did likewise.----------------- The trailers could have contained extra batteries for pure plug-in extended range.------------- Neither of the teams connected with the idea of a streamlined,gap-sealed trailer which would have ( could have ) lowered their road load.
