Choosing a wideband

Several people here talk about running a wideband sensor, but I still have some questions. Some have mentioned that a wideband can output a narrowband signal. What versions do this? Also, which sensor should I look for for the cheapest to replace. Last, I read in here somewhere that you can fib on the signal sent to the computer throuh te wideband, is this tre, and which ones do it?
