what do you need your car to do?
I would personally go for a Honda Insight, if you only do highway driving then look at a VW TDI Golf, only short city trips then look on Ebay at the electrics that are out there, to me a $10,000 budget is pretty big, my civic vx's were $1,200 each of them, my electric car was $3,500... most I've spent on anything other then my house.
