Christ, I don't have the advert. right in front of me, but I remember Ford/Mercury bragging about how that the cars roof slope and trunk added downforce.
( Just a useless tidbit of information that puzzled me at the time. )
If you look at the car from the side and superimpose a Civic hatch over the two, you would find that the Cougar is almost a Civic hatch with a decklid extention set really low.
I have wondered for years about what the cars wake would look like.
