An Australian Tesla owner and co-pilot just feather-footed this car into the record books for longest distance on a single charge by a production EV.
The car is taking part in Australia's
Global Green Challenge - an event that showcases alternative energy vehicles on a cross-continent race.They figured there were just 5 km / 3 miles of distance left in the pack when they stopped!
How did they do it?

You'll note in the photo on their blog page that they also drove with the Roadster's targa roof in place for the record attempt. I wonder if they used the air conditioner...
