If the wild ones are anything like the domestic ones, the Alpha drives them out
via homosexuality. In other words, he rides 'em wild-style until they get tired of it and leave. That's one way the Alpha male shows superiority when the other rams aren't into butting heads.
I'm not an expert on the subject, though. That's what I've observed while raising Fin and Dorset ewes.
