Welcome to the site...

It all depends on how far you need to go without using fuel. Many vehicles cut the fuel injectors during downshift, over a certain RPM.

The most efficient process is to coast in Neutral (with the engine off, if you're bold enough -- practice first )

There's a balance between the 2. Good mileage, BTW...
